OFFICIAL MEMORIAL OF
DIANA
PRINCESS OF WALES
Diana, Princess of Wales was first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, whom she married on 29 July 1981, and an international charity and fundraising figure, as well as a big celebrity of the late 20th century.
She and Charles started dating in 1980. Their wedding was when she was only 19 years old! Her wedding to the Prince of Wales, held at St Paul's Cathedral, was televised and watched by an audience of over 750 million people – people all over the World! After this marriage she received the courtesy titles Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, Countess of Chester and Baroness of Renfrew.
They had two sons: Princes William and Harry, currently second and third in line to the thrones of the 16 Commonwealth realms, respectively. We all can see that William is like his mother, and not only according to his appearance. Diana brought both of them good.
A very public figure from the announcement of her engagement to the Prince of Wales, Diana was born into an aristocratic English family with royal ancestry, and she remained the focus of worldwide media during and also after her marriage, which ended in divorce on 28 August 1996. I was so sad, it was like the end of the dream.
Diana was devoting her work to charity. She received recognition for her charity work and for her support of the International Campaign to lan landmines. From 1989, she was the president of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, in addition to dozens of other charities.
Her death in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997 and public mourning a week later was so sad for me. I was very upset and still thought: “She was so amazing and now she’s dead. What is happening in the world?! Why it should be so cruel?” I and all my girlfriends talked about it months after it happened. She died with her lover. What a tragedy. Let the Lord be with her and hope she cares for everybody also from heaven.
